Who Are the Precariat ?

Why we need Universal Basic Income

Guy Standing (PhD), is a Professorial Research Associate at the School of Oriental and African Studies - SOAS, University of London, founder member and co-president of the Basic Income Earth Network. His ideas are based upon the premise that:

  1. there can be no return to the labourism that underpinned social democracy and welfare states in the 20th century.
  2. the precariat will provide the leadership and energy for a new progressive politics.

But isn't UBI just one step from a cashless society under a surveillance-based domineering regime? To counter that possibility we propose adopting - Universal Basic Agriculture (UBA) - working the land in conjunction.
