Ripping Off Public Wealth: NZ's Right posing as the Left

Most thought Muldoon was bad, but soon regretted replacing him

The story of the neoliberal coup in New Zealand: from its origins in the election of the Labour party in 1984 to the mid 1990s when the revolution was in full swing. A small group of economists and businessmen led by Labour's finance minister, Roger Douglas, had succeeded in transforming a small social democracy into their version of a model free market state.
The trickle-down of the Rogernomics rhetoric warned of 'no gain without pain', and here the theory is counterpointed by the social effects, (redundant workers, Post Office closures, tec).

This film was made while the effects of this betrayal were still raw, it draws extensively on archive footage from the time, and interviews with key “witnesses to history”.
