An entomologist speaking on behalf of the honeybees, and the threat posed by the Colony Collapse Disorder. One of the main causes seems to be Neonicotinoids, a group of pesticides based upon the toxicity of nicotine.
In NZ honey is harvested by and large from hill country and bush, rather than croplands.

Speaking on behalf of the honeybees

Colony Collapse Disorder

In this story an impassioned entomologist, Dr. Lynn Royce, speaks out about the plight of the honeybees.

Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring first appeared (1962), warning us against the dangers of chemicals in our natural world. We now seem to be entering a new, more dangerous period, where the accumulated human effects upon the environment are producing an obvious toll.

REPORT - Neonicotinoids: risks to bees confirmed, European Food Safety Authority, 28 February 2018.
